Hemp is the world's most useful plant. It can be used to make fuels, including ethanol for gas engines and oil for diesel engines, reducing the use of environmentally ruinous petroleum. Hemp paper lasts longer and recycles better than paper from trees. Hemp fiberboard is four times stronger than plywood. Hemp can be used to make insulation, paint, fabric, food, cosmetics, nylon, sealants, filters, flooring and lightweight concrete. An acre of hemp absorbs more greenhouse gases than an acre of trees. Legalizing hemp farming would give farmers an additional crop to grow. The US is the leading importer of hemp materials, but it is illegal for US farmers to grow it. This book explains why.
