Java Tea, or Cats Whiskers, is a traditional medicinal health tea. It is used mostly for its anti-inflammatory and urinary health properties. It has been said to help in the treatment of gout, joint inflammation, and other inflammatory related conditions.

In southeast Asia Java tea has traditionally been used to treat various inflammatory diseases.

For urinary health, Java tea may increase the loss of body water through the urine (diuretic effect), stop spasms, and reduce swelling.

The taste of Java tea is reminiscent of the well-known green tea. Java is a variety of tea with a light, mild and woody taste, mild, earthy aroma with a dark distillate colour.

The brewing of Java tea is similar to that for other teas, place 2-3 grams of finely chopped leaves into a cup and pour over 150mls of boiling water. Let is steep for 10-15 minutes, strain and add honey for taste.
